TOP FIVE DRIVERS TO WATCH

FOOD CITY 500 from BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY

My #5 driver is coming off of a big win in Charlotte, #9 Chase Elliot. He has had a couple of close calls where looked to be headed to victory lane. He finally got his first win of the year Sunday night in the Queen city. Here Chase has just eight starts with no wins and three Top 5 finishes-38%.You have to go back to this race in 2017 for a won from his team Hendrick Motorsports. Jimmie Johnson got that win. I think Chase win be in the front of the HMS pack. He is 5th hottest over the last six races. Chase finished 5th in his last stop here.

The #4 driver to watch is a two time former winner here, #4 Kevin Harvick. Kevin has 38 starts, those two wins, and 12 Top 5’s. Kevin last won here in August of 2016, in the night race. His last Top 5 was in 2017. Can he recapture the magic? I think so, he is my #1 ranked short track driver and is also #4 hottest over the last six weeks.

My #3 driver is the most recent winner here, #11 Denny Hamlin. Denny has 28 starts, a win in August of 2012 and in the night race last year, nine Top 5’s-32%. Denny already has two wins this year and is happy to here where he had a win last year and a 5th place finish in this race. He is also #2 rated on the short tracks.

The #2 pick has won two of the summer night races here but never in the spring, #22 Joey Logano. Joey has 22 starts, those two wins, and six Top 5’s. He is my #3 ranked short track driver and is #3 hottest over the last six weeks.

The number #1 driver to watch is the winning-est current driver here, #18 Kyle Busch. Kyle has eight wins in just 29 starts! One of those wins was in this race last year. He has 12 Top 5’s-41%. Kyle has had some tough racing luck so far this year but this could be a change of luck. He is my #1 ranked short track driver.
