Playoff Race #6

Kansas Speedway hosted race #12 in May of this year. #4 Kevin Harvick won that race. With Kevin Harvick a total of five Playoff drivers have found victory lane here. In addition to Kevin they are Martin Truex Jr., Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano and Kyle Busch. The first race held here was in 2001. Since that first race Hendrick Motorsports has the most wins with six. In the last ten years though things have been a little closer. Hendrick Motorsports, Joe Gibbs Racing, Team Penske and Stewart Haas Racing all have three wins in the last ten years. Martin Truex has won two of the last three races here and Kevin Harvick has won three of the last ten, combined these two drivers have won half of the last ten races. Adding to the pressure we’ll see four drivers get eliminated from the Playoffs. Drivers Brad Keselowski, Ryan Blaney, Kyle Larson and Alex Bowman are on the bottom of the points rankings and need a win to stay in the Playoffs or a great deal of bad luck on the part of other drivers. Chase Elliott and Aric Almirola because of wins are safe and know they are moving on in the Playoffs. Who will lock into the Group of Eight and into the next round and what team will dominate? We’ll know on Sunday.

Tuesday look for our Top 10 Drivers by track type. Thursday we rank the Top 30 drivers for the Hollywood Casino 400 from Kansas Speedway.

TOP FIVE DRIVERS

1000Bulbs.com 500:TALLADEGA

The #5 driver to watch is a former winner here, #4 Kevin Harvick. Kevin has been freaky fast just about everywhere this year, he is the #1 points-getter so far this year. He is #5 hottest over the last six weeks. He has 35 starts, one win and seven Top 5’s.

My #4 driver to watch is another former winner here, #18 Kyle Busch. Kyle struggled a bit in Dover. Here he is just hoping not to get caught up in a big wreck that can happen here and get taken out. He always runs fast here and his crew keeps him competitive.  Kyle has 26 starts, one win and six Top 5’s. His one win came in the early race in 2008, over ten years ago. Kyle will get a Top 5…if he stays out of trouble.

My #3 driver to watch is the most recent winner and currently the #1 ranked plate track driver, #22 Joey Logano. Joey won here in April, that was his third win in just 19 starts. He finished 4th in this race last year one of his six total Top 5’s. Besides being #1 rated on plate tracks he is #2 hottest over the last six races.

My #2 driver to watch has never won here, #41 Kurt Busch.  Kurt has 35 starts and eight Top 5’s. He is my #6 ranked plate track driver and he finished 2nd in this race in April. Kurt had a Top 5 finish at Dover helping him to #3 hottest over the last six races.

My #1 pick is the winning-est current driver here, #2 Brad Keselowski. Brad has an impressive five wins in just 19 starts, along with seven Top 5’s. He could be nowhere better than here where his last win was this race last year making him the defending champion of this race. He also sits #1 hottest over the last six weeks. Keep this in mind; three of his wins came in the last eight races.

Monday look for our preview of the Hollywood Casino 400 from Kansas Speedway.
