KANSAS SPEEDWAY

KANSAS 400

May 12th, 8:30PM CHARLOTTE TIME Fox Sports 1 TV

1.5 miles 15 Degrees of Banking

This is race #12 of the year. We have eight different winners in ten races. Half of the Chase field has been set. Actually just seven spots have been set since Joey Logano’s encumbered win at Richmond means he won’t be locked into the Chase. Though it appears he has a great shot of making the Chase field. Drivers have 16 opportunities left to lock up the remaining nine slots. Kansas hosted their first race in 2001. In 2011 Kansas began hosting two races per year. There have been 14 different winners in 24 races here, Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart, Greg Biffle, Matt Kenseth, Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick,Joey Logano and Martin Truex being the repeat winners. Jimmie Johnson is the active driver with the most wins at three. In the last ten years Hendrick Motorsports has four wins. Roush Fenway Racing, Joe Gibbs Racing and Team Penske each have three wins. But if you add Marin Truex’s two wins last year, the Toyota/Gibbs motor shop is look strong with five wins in the last ten years and more importantly three of the last four races. Will TRD/JGR winning streak prevail? We’ll know on Saturday night.
