For the pre season rankings we go off of last year’s results; who looked good all season long and who looked good toward the end of the season. Joe Gibbs Racing is the #2 with the loss of Matt Kenseth. Furniture Row is #1 having won the driver championship and winning the most races last year. Team Penske sitting at #3 had two of the three drivers in their lineup in the playoffs last year and all three drivers won races last year. Stewart Haas Racing has a reshuffled driver line up again this year but look strong at #4. Wood Brothers Racing are the only single car operation in the Top 5. They have a new driver this year with Paul Menard who should fit in there very well. That makes three Ford teams in the Top 5 and two from Toyota. At #6 we see the first team from Chevrolet. Hendrick Motorsports sitting at #6 are far from the team that won the championship in 2016. They lose two drivers from their lineup retiring Dale Earnhardt Jr and Kasey Kahne to Leavine Family Racing. They are replaced by Alex Bowman in the #88 and Xfinity Series Champ William Byron in the #24.They join Jimmie Johnson and Chase Elliott who both made the playoffs last year. Hendrick will move up the team ranks very quickly, they won’t be outside of the Top 5 for very long. We find Chip Ganassi Racing at #7, Roush Fenway Racing at #8, Richard Childress Racing and lastly Leavine Family Racing at #10.

Next Monday look the start of our Pre Season Top 30 drivers.
