1.05 Miles, 7 Degrees of Banking

This week the drivers of the NASCAR circuit head north to the Granite State, to New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The track is located about 75 miles from downtown Boston and easily reached from Portland, ME and Providence, RI. This very flat 1.05 mile track always provides a very interesting race. This may be the most interesting because now we have three race stages. The first two will be 75 laps each and 150 in the last stage. Seven different teams have won here in the last ten years. Joe Gibbs Racing has seven of those wins, Hendrick Motorsports, Team Penske and Stewart Haas Racing have three each.  Richard Childress Racing has two and Roush Fenway Racing and the now defunct Michael Waltrip Racing have one each. Chevrolet and Toyota have both won eight of the last twenty races, a tie but Toyota has won three of the last four races. Ford has three wins including their sweep in 2014. With just eight races to go before the ten-race Chase for the Cup, some of the drivers will be getting even more aggressive than usual. Because of the flat, tight turns there is always beatin’ and bangin’ on this track. Which driver can get one race closer to locking himself (or herself) into the Chase? We’ll know on Sunday.
