Since Rusty Wallace won the spring race here in 2004 only eight drivers have won at this track. That’s 23 races & only eight different winners and 16 of those motors came from one place, Hendrick Motorsports.

The #5 pick has struggled here at Martinsville, #4 Kevin Harvick. Kevin has 29 starts and only three Top 5’s, but he did win this race in 2011. So why put him in my Top 5? Because Kevin is only getting better here: four of his last five races here were Top 10’s. Kevin is coming in with a motor from the Hendrick Motorsports shop; he sits #1 in points this year and is #1 hottest.

My #4 driver is trying to break into that group of winners, #22 Joey Logano. Joey is #4 hottest coming out of California. He has 14 starts, no wins and just four Top 5 finishes. While he has never won here, he did finish 3rd in this race last year. Amazingly three of his last four stops were Top 5’s. Joey is my #1 ranked short track driver.

My #3 driver to watch is yet a member of Team Hendrick, #48 Jimmie Johnson.  Jimmie has 28 starts, eight wins, and an incredible 18 Top 5’s. Every race but six was a Top 10 finish. His last Martinsville win came in this race three years ago, helping to give him the #3 highest-average finish here.

The #2 pick is the most recent spring race winner at Martinsville, #11 Denny Hamlin. Denny has eleven Top 5’s in 20 starts and amazing five wins.  Denny was third here in the fall of last year. He is currently #6 hottest over the last six races.

My #1 pick is has never won here and could be only the ninth driver in the last 12 years to win here, #18 Kyle Busch. Kyle has 20 starts, no wins, and eight Top 5’s. Half of his last six starts were Top 5’s and all were Top 15’s. He finished 5th last fall and is #2 hottest over the last six races.
