TOP FIVE DRIVERS

Federated Auto Parts 400 from RICHMOND

My #5 pick won last Sunday in Darlington and also won this race in 2013, #19 Carl Edwards. That was Carl’s only win here in 20 starts. With that win Sunday night Carl is #3 hottest over the last six races; look for Carl to keep his mojo going.

The number #4 is a four-time winner here and #4 hottest, #18 Kyle Busch. Kyle has 20 starts, the four win’s, and 13 Top 5’s. He didn’t race here in April because of his injury but now that he is locked into the Chase we’ll forget about the regular season and focus on him being #4 hottest over the last six weeks.

The #3 driver to watch is the number one hottest driver over the last six weeks, #22 Joey Logano. Joey is ending the regular season on a tear, five his last six races were Top 5’s and two were wins. He comes in here with a fifth place finish earlier in the year and he just wants to keep the momentum going into the Chase.

My #2 driver finished #2 here in April, #4 Kevin Harvick. Kevin has 29 starts here, three wins and just nine Top 5’s. Those may not sound like the best stats, but he is a good short track driver and also performs well at oddly similar Phoenix Raceway. Lastly, Kevin is just getting better here, in the last eight races Kevin has two wins and half were Top 5’s!

My #1 driver to watch is my #1 rated driver on short tracks, #24 Jeff Gordon. Jeff has 45 starts, two wins and 18 Top 5 finishes. A win Saturday night locks him into Chase. He is the #23 hottest driver over the last six weeks, if he has any shot at all in the Chase he needs to start heating up! He should too because he knows, #23 hottest isn’t going far in the Chase.
