2 Miles 18 Degrees of Banking

NASCAR returns to the track that Roger Penske built in a beautiful area of Michigan about 70 miles outside of the Motor City: Detroit. Is it important to win a race in the backyard of the auto industry? You’d better believe it!  There is nothing like winning a race on your own home turf. This track is wide enough for easy passing but sometimes the demands are very tough on motors as well as the nerves of the drivers. Who dominates? In the last 10 years Ford has won seven races, Dodge five, Chevrolet and Toyota four each. Roush/Fenway accounts all of those Ford wins, the most of any owner making it not just a track dominated by Ford but a full blown “House of Roush”. Ford not only has the most wins in the last 10 years, they also have the last two wins here compliments of Greg Biffle. In the last 3 years Ford, Chevrolet and Toyota have each won two of the six races run. Will Toyota, Chevy or Ford take backyard title? We’ll know on Sunday.

Tuesday look for our Top 10 drivers on downforce tracks  in advance of the Michigan Pure 400 from Michigan International Speedway. Thursday we’ll rank the top 30 drivers.
