CHECKER AUTO PARTS 500: PHOENIX
After 500 Kilometers, 312 miles, two red flags periods, 10 cautions and two TV networks we saw Jimmie Johnson get his 7th win of the year and all but lock in the 2008 championship. It was also a good night for the picks. Jimmie was my #1 driver to watch, #2 Jeff Gordon came in 41st, #3 driver Denny Hamlin came in 5th, #4 driver Kevin Harvick had a 7th place finish and #5 driver Carl Edwards had a good race coming in 4th. Sadly Carl’s shot to keep the race to the Championship was dashed when Jimmie took the lead and left no room for anyone to ever get close.
